Armed with nothing more than an iPhone 4 & Blip Interactive’s NanoStudio Cellmod became totally mobile with this album which is a first for me. After listening to each track, I feel a sense of adventure as I imagine Cellmod making this EP during his daily routine(s). Hell for all we know he could have made this while in bed & only now got out of bed & to a computer to upload it all (but we all know that’s not true).
Cellmod delivers with club friendly tracks like “Colors” & “Options.” While “Options” reminds me of when I was first introduced to Negative Format back in 2006, which of course is not a bad thing but rather a great thing. While Nanomáquina shows a more ‘gentle’ side with tracks like “Provoke.” Although the final track on this EP, “Treason” really lives up to it’s title in my opinion, because it is treason, because it leaves you wanting more, or as center Negative put it on his Twitter account: "Like an unfinished handjob."
All in all, this is a very decent EP worth picking up. Not only does it show just how easy it is for Cellmod to adapt & arise to any challenge but also to feed his musical needs & to fill our ears with his addictive sound. Something that existing fans of Cellmod will enjoy as well as new fans.
